Bike Servicing and Repairs

The countdown to spring is on! Longer days, warmer weather, more people riding. It all means that NOW is the best time to roll in and book a service with minimal lead time.

With all scheduled services we aim to offer same day servicing. To assist us with this, we request customers drop off your bike between 9-10am the day of their service or the afternoon before. Due to limited space, we request customers collect your bike the same day the service is completed.

To book a service you're welcome to visit us in person, or contact us by:
For Brompton-specific queries you're welcome visit us in person, or contact us by:
If you get a flat tyre you're still welcome to roll in without a booking.

Proposed E-Bike Ban on
VIC Trains & Coaches

In a knee-jerk response to fires on trains caused by poorly-manufactured lithium batteries, the Victorian Government is looking to limit how Victorian's travel around the state. The proposed changes are:
  • E-scooters and e-bikes no longer be allowed on trains and coaches
  • Only foldable e-scooters/e-bikes be allowed on trams and PTV buses (NOT trains)
->>   Some bus services allow bikes, including e-bikes, to be attached to bike racks on the outside of the bus at the front or rear – this will remain
  • Other battery-powered transport devices, like e-unicycles or e-skateboards, be banned on trains, trams, buses, and coaches
  • Mobility scooters continue to be allowed on the network
We acknowledge that fires on any mode of Public Transport is a serious matter and steps should be taken to mitigate danger to the public. We do not agree that a blanket ban on ALL e-bikes is the right way to go about this. Many of the most affected people are riding bikes with high-quality (eg. Bosch, Shimano, Brompton) componentry that meet European and Australian standards. No thermal fires have been attributed to these batteries. People rely on combining e-bikes with trains for everything from their daily commute to recreational rides in metro and regional Victoria.

By limiting access to public transport, these changes are forcing more people onto roads and highways. Not everyone can - or wants - to drive a motor vehicle. In a year that has already seen a sharp increase in the number of lives tragically lost on our roads, efforts to encourage more people to use the public transport network would seem logical - not the opposite.

What You Can Do
You have until 18 August to submit feedback on the proposed changes. Read the full details then complete a survey &/or upload a submission here: https://engage.vic.gov.au/public-transport-regulations

Bike Counter Update

We have connection! As you've passed by the store in the last couple of weeks, you may have noticed that the bike counter is back online! We are stoked that it's back online and, given the community's reaction when the counter went down a year ago, we're sure many people are celebrating with us.

July's total (midday 11th to midnight 31st) was 39,860 riders over the sensor. When we projected this total out, the full month was likely to have been approximately 60,200-60,300. We'll have a trend line for 2025 on the graph in next month's newsletter. The red dotted line indicates partial data recorded for June, Aug-Oct 2024.
