Decades ago, the average folding bike was horrible. But nowadays, they’re light, quick, handle well and give you the ultimate in versatility to transport yourself and some cargo from place to place. Suiting a variety of rider sizes, and types of riding we can match you to the folding bike that best suits your needs.
The folding bikes we stock are the best-of-breed for the types of customers who come to our store. They’re generally great at commuting, but can also be used for other things depending upon what you’re after. We also offer bikes at different price-points, as sometimes that’s people’s key driving factor. Many just want to give it a go, to try out this whole folding bike concept to see if it works for them. (Of course, you can take any of our bikes for a test ride).
From a logistical perspective, a folding bike can provide many advantages:
- If you are short on space at home, once you get home your bike can become a fraction of its full size, and tucked away in a corner, ready for use. This is where the size of the final fold is key.
- If you also use public transport, a folding bike is the only option if you want to take a tram, bus or train. Strictly-speaking, it should also be in a cover on a bus or a tram. This is where both size of fold, but also ease of fold is key. Weight can also be a consideration, as sometimes you have to carry it through gates or up and down stairs etc.
- It makes one-way trips easy. You can ride to meet up with friends/family and then bung it in a car/taxi/uber for the trip home. This is also useful if the weather is changeable – you can decide based upon the clouds and radar.
Most of the bikes we stock have guards fitted. Most also have the capacity to carry some cargo, although that varies depending upon the bike.
We also have a number of folding e-Bikes in stock, combining the benefits which a folding bike can provide you, with the benefit of electric assist – pedal hard, or hardly, pedal – it’s up to you.
We love Bromptons. Staff ride theirs almost every day, and we have a close affiliation with the Melbourne Brompton Club. Any limited edition which is available to Australia we will stock, and order more than any other dealer, to ensure the best chance you’ll get what you’re after. Each year, our complement of Black Editions increases, and we’ve stocked various other limited editions such as Nickel Editions, NYC Edition, Barbour Edition and the very popular CHPT3 – which has been re-released and we’re getting a swag. We’ll happily service a Brompton purchased anywhere (even if bought in London decades ago), as we have a full workshop and experienced staff. We keep most common spares in stock. We also have a full range of Brompton accessories, as well as many after-market options.
* A ‘Premier Store‘ is the highest level of retail categorisation of a Brompton dealer. All B-spoke Centres will have four demonstrator bikes, this covers the full range of handlebar styles and ride positions; all luggage options will be available as will a wide range of other Brompton spares and accessories. All staff members will have a good knowledge of Brompton products.
